One More Thing About Christmas

Luke 2:17-18 The Message (MSG)

15-18 As the angel choir withdrew into heaven, the sheepherders talked it over. “Let’s get over to Bethlehem as fast as we can and see for ourselves what God has revealed to us.” They left, running, and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in the manger. Seeing was believing. They told everyone they met what the angels had said about this child. All who heard the sheepherders were impressed.

As we begin to put another Christmas behind us and put away all the gifts and decorations let us not forget that Christmas should last all year. That time of love and closeness to Christ and family and friends should be something we as Christians experience all year long. The excitement of the coming of the Messiah as a child to save us from ourselves should always be with us. Christmas doesn’t end just because a twenty-four-hour day is over. In Luke 2 the shepherds didn’t lose their excitement once they saw Christ. If anything, their excitement grew. When they left Him they told everyone what they had seen and heard.

So, this year as we pack away all those Christmas ornaments, trees, lights, and nativities let’s not pack away Jesus until next year. Don’t even pack Him away until Easter. Keep Him out on display in your heart and in your life every day all year long. Be excited about Jesus all year long! Invite Him to be with you at all times and watch your life change into something better. Hold on to that Christmas excitement! Lift up your eyes, because He’s on His way back for those who are waiting for Him. Until then celebrate!
