Lost Cause

“When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.”

‭‭John‬ ‭8:10-11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

As Memorial Day approaches I ponder the sacrifices that have been made by men and women over the past 245 years. I’m sure there were many times when it seemed like a lost cause. During the Revolutionary War the odds were against them, but they sacrificed themselves anyway. Then there was the Civil War, WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, just to name a few. Though many saw these wars as a lost cause they sacrificed themselves anyway. They fought and won to maintain our freedoms, our way of life. They fought to keep dictators and terrorist from destroying what America cherished.

I also think about a man who sacrificed so that anyone who believes in Him will be saved. Jesus Christ. I’m sure the Pharisees thought the adulterous woman was a lost cause. After all they caught her in the very act! However, Jesus didn’t see her as such. After all her accusers had gone He told her to go and sin no more. Jesus doesn’t see lost causes. He sees potential. He sees what we will become in Him. You may feel like there’s no hope for you or maybe you have labeled someone a lost cause. Jesus does see you or anyone as a lost cause. His love, grace and mercy never gives up or runs out. No one is a lost cause in the eyes of Christ.
